I think it’s because of this summer heat.
Alice
Besides, they are kept in very small cages. Even humans would be sick in such small spaces.
Nancy
You’re quite right.

ナンシー：私もよ…ねえ、アリス。動物園のほとんどすべての動物が具合悪そうに見えると思わない？

アリス：あら、私も同じこと言おうと思っていたの。

ナンシー：この夏の暑さのせいだと思うわ。

アリス：それに、とても狭い檻の中に入れられているし。人間でもこんな小さな空間に入れられたら病気になりかねないわ。

ナンシー：そのとおりよ。
