Taiki
Excuse me, Madam.
Woman
Yes?
Taiki
Could you tell me how to get to the nearest station? I’m not sure where I am.
Woman
Oh, I see. Well, go down the street then turn right at the big bakery. Then walk along 25th Street. You’ll soon see it on your left.
Taiki
So I should turn right at the bakery, then go down 25th Street and it’s on the left?
Woman
Right.
Taiki
Thank you very much.
Woman
It’s about a 10-minute-walk from here.
Taiki
OK. I got it. Thank you.
大樹：
すみません。

通りがかりの人：
はい？

大樹：
一番近い駅までどう行けばいいのでしょうか。自分がどこにいるのか良くわからないのです。

通りがかりの人：
そうですか。ええと、この通りを行って、大きなパン屋さんで右に曲がります。それから２５番通りを進みます。駅は左手にすぐ見えますよ。

大樹：
この通りを行って、パン屋さんで右に曲がって、そして２５番通りを進む。駅は左側に、ですね？

通りがかりの人：
そうです。

大樹：
ありがとうございます。

通りがかりの人：
ここからだと大体歩いて１０分くらいですよ。

大樹：
わかりました。ありがとう。

Giving Directions
道案内をする
Go about three blocks.
Go that way for about 5 minutes.
Head towards the tall glass building but go left before you reach the bank.
Take your second left.
It’ll be on your left.
Hang a left at the first set of lights. (in a car)
およそ３ブロック進んでください。

その方向に約５分進んでください。

高いガラスのビルに向かって、銀行につく前に左に曲がってください。

２つ目を左です。

1. How to get to your house from the nearest station.
2. How to get to your office / school from the nearest station.
3. How to get to your favorite restaurant / bar / coffee shop etc. from the nearest station.

HINTS
Giving directions
You can mention a landmark such as a big building other than explaining how many blocks to go.
Asking for directions
It’s good to repeat what you hear when you ask for directions so that you can remember which way to go.
