It was widely believed that being an only child leads to them becoming selfish and spoiled. However, a number of studies have been done and there was no evidence to prove this theory. So is it better to have more than one child? There are other factors that need to be considered.
Raising a child will drastically affect a household’s financial situation. This increases as the number of children increase. However, there are some advantages to having more than one child. For example, when the children are older they will be able to rely on each other instead of always relying on the parent for support. Parents have to give up much of their free time especially when the children are babies or are still in elementary school. At this age children are not yet able to take care of themselves and must demand a lot of time from the parent.
Siblings learn how to take care of each other. There are often fights and sibling rivalry but in the end they learn to appreciate each other. Siblings will often become each other’s ally in the fight against mom and dad. Most people who have a sibling say that they are happy they do just as people who are an only child are happy they are.
