There are families in all of the countries around the world and some are large and some are small in numbers. Based on the country they live in the typical family might consist of a mother, a father and anywhere from one to five children. In some countries, the grandparents, if they are still alive, will be part of the family as well.
The typical family is brought together by marriage and by birth and many times it is expanded by more marriages. There are, however, some countries in the world where a husband has many wives and they in turn have several children so their typical family is far different from what we have mentioned so far.
Based on what we have read and talked about we now know that the typical family is not always what we see in our own country. It can vary according to the country that is being discussed and their customs which can vary greatly from ours. Quite often when we are asked a question about something that is supposed to be typical we tend to think only of our own country and its customs, so we must think broader.
