'Dinner in the Sky' Opens in Osaka With Meals 40 Meters Above Ground

A new aerial restaurant, Dinner in the Sky, opened in Osaka. Diners are lifted 40 meters (about 131 feet) into the air by a crane. The venue was previewed for the press ahead of its limited run from October 10 to December 28.

The restaurant is aimed at visitors seeking a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience. It is being promoted as a major attraction after the conclusion of Expo 2025.

The restaurant is located at Nakanoshima GATE South Pier, a complex on the left bank of the Ajigawa River in Osaka's Nishi Ward. The concept, originally from Belgium, has been featured in 65 countries worldwide. Osaka will be the second location in Japan, following Tokyo.

At the Osaka venue, Guests can enjoy a 30-minute meal and drinks while taking in the view. The experience runs six times a day, with prices ranging from ¥22,000 JPY (around $150 USD) to ¥28,000 JPY (around $190 USD).

When the Tokyo edition ran from March to May, it became a social media sensation. It welcomed roughly 1,600 guests during its run.

食卓をクレーンでつり上げ、地上40メートルでスリル満点の食事が楽しめる空中レストラン「ディナーインザスカイオオサカ」が大阪市内にオープンするのを前に、施設が10月9日、報道陣に公開された。10日から12月28日までの期間限定営業で、非日常の体験を求めるインバウンド（訪日客）などに向け、「アフター万博」の観光コンテンツとして打ち出す。

施設は、同市西区の安治川左岸にある複合施設「中之島GATEサウスピア」に開業する。ベルギー発祥で、これまでに65カ国で展開。日本では東京に次ぎ、大阪は2カ所目となる。

大阪の施設では、食卓といすをクレーンで地上40メートルまでつり上げる。空中では約30分間、絶景とともに食事やお酒を楽しめる。1日に6回開催し、料金は2万2千円～2万8千円。

3～5月に実施した東京ではSNSなどで話題を呼び、会期中に約1600人が利用した。
